What is Protected Learning Time?
Protected Learning Time (PLT) is an opportunity for Practice staff to address their own learning and professional development needs. Put simply, Practices close for an afternoon to allow for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) learning activities.
The frequency of PLT can vary from one afternoon per month to once every few months. During that “protected” afternoon, staff members engage in activities designed to meet their identified learning needs.
What if you medical attention during this time?
If you require medical attention during the time the Practice is closed for PLT, please call SDHC (South Down Health and Care Ltd) on 01323 402710, who will be providing GP cover (this line is only open during closure times). They will triage your needs and signpost you to the most relevant service.
For non-urgent assistance with medication or minor illness, please contact your local pharmacist.
The Practice will be open as usual the following morning.
